The 'Brains' Behind the Idea

Have you ever heard of the Canadian brand Brain Wash? Maybe the name rings a bell, since the company appeared as a contestant on the popular reality TV show Dragon’s Den in 2023. If you haven’t heard of them, Brain Wash is an innovative, Green Seal–certified cleaning product company based in Chambly, Quebec.

Robert, the brains behind the brand, created his eco-friendly cleaning products after his then four-year-old son, Henry, pleaded with him to do something to help the environment. Not wanting to disappoint his concerned son, Robert put his creativity to work. He set out to invent products that thought “outside the box,” delivered effective results, and reduced environmental impact. And with that determination, Robert launched Brain Wash!

Handy Biodegradable Refill Pods

How Brain Wash Cleaning Products Work

You may wonder how these cleaning products differ from the rest. Great question! During the inventing process, Robert realized that many cleaning products are mostly water. Since many of us are fortunate enough to have access to water at home, he decided to omit water from his products. As a result, he invented biodegradable, water-soluble pods that contain concentrated cleaning solution.

So, how does Brain Wash work? It’s simple! When you purchase a Brain Wash product for the first time, you receive a sturdy plastic bottle labeled with the type of cleaner (e.g., bathroom cleaner) and the directions for use. You can use this bottle indefinitely to reduce plastic waste. All Brain Wash packaging is recyclable as well.

You’ll notice something interesting: the container has no liquid. Instead, a water-soluble pod sits at the bottom of the bottle. Just fill the container with water, seal the cap, and shake until the pod dissolves. Ta-da! Your new cleaning product is ready to use.

When you finish the product, simply add a new pod to the bottle and repeat the steps above. It’s an ingenious idea, wouldn’t you say? It also saves you money, since after the initial bottle purchase, you only need to buy the biodegradable pods. I think we can all support that idea!

How are Brain Wash cleaning products eco-friendly?

How else are these products considered environmentally friendly?  All of Brain Wash’s cleaners are free from chemicals and contain NO ammonia, bleach, phosphate, phthalate, parabens or pesticides.  Moreover, Brain Wash products are Green Seal Certified, which is the international gold standard for products that meet stringent health and environmental criteria.  Green Seal award certification to companies that prove health and environmental leadership from the beginning of a product’s lifecycle to the end.  Furthermore, all products must use safer chemicals, responsible sourcing, low-impact manufacturing and sustainable packaging.

My Brain Wash Cleaning Products

Brain Wash Cleaners

What kinds of cleaning products does Brain Wash make?  They make All Purpose Cleaner, Bathroom Cleaner, Glass Cleaner, Foaming Hand Soap (various scents), and Foaming Dish Soap.  They can be purchased individually, or in different bundles.

What attracted me to want to try Brain Wash cleaning products?  First, I really resonated with Robert’s story of his son asking him to do something to better our planet.  As a mother of a 6-year-old boy, I could easily relate to his story and the desire to make our World a better place for the next generation.

Second, I always LOVE supporting companies that are Canadian owned and that have products that are made in Canada.

Third, I was intrigued by Brain Wash’s innovative invention of biodegradable water-soluble pods that omitted unnecessary packaging (on their website it says that they have saved over 500 235 plastic bottles to date!).

Lastly, I investigated the criteria in which a company needs to meet to be Green Seal Certified and it is rigorous.  As you know, the objective of my website is to educate myself/ others about different environmental issues and to promote more eco-friendly products. I feel that Brain Wash checked the boxes for this goal!

Do these products really work? Yes, I have to say that I am very pleased with the cleaning results of these products! I have tried them all.  They are easy to use, and my son absolutely LOVES shaking the bottle to dissolve the water-soluble pods. LOL!  I will be posting reviews of each product in the near future 😉
